Two IIM-C Students Placed into Lehman Bro's for Londom Operations

Two IIM-C students of the Class of 2009, who had interned with Lehman Brothers in summer, got their pre-placement offers just 15-20 days ago. "We interned at the London office. Work was as usual... no one had any idea that trade was declining," said one of the interns.

Investment bankers including Merrill Lynch and the now-collapsed Lehman Brothers have been big recruiters on the IIM-C campus. For example, last year, 34% of a batch of 291 got jobs in the investment banking and financial services sector.

Even for summer placements, last year, firms such as Merrill Lynch hired 18 students, Morgan Stanley (11), JP Morgan Chase (13) and HSBC Global Investment Banking Division (6). "Both Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers are two big players as far as placements are concerned," admitted IIM-C chief administrative officer Dinesh Varma. "They are good paymasters too. Probably, this year we will miss them. There's bound to be some impact but nothing that we cannot overcome," he added.

For the interns, there has been no official communication yet, but they know they will have to put in their names for the permanent placement programme in March next year. "We put in 12-13 hours a day at the London office and worked on hot sectors like commodities and equity sales. Everyone there was very interested in India," the intern recalled.

Last year, salaries for international jobs crossed the Rs 1 crore mark and the highest domestic salary, including bonuses, was in the range of Rs 65-70 lakh per annum, offered by a leading international investment bank. "There were a total of 32 offers made to students by Slot Zero Investment banks," said Rahul Ajmani, placement coordinator at IIM-C. Some of the top notch firms which hired students from the batch of 2008 include Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Barclays Capital, Lehman Brothers, UBS, JP Morgan Chase and ING amongst others.

Our Trip to Papikondalu

I have been planning to go to this place from the past 3years...:)but it was postponed for soo many reasons..finally I went there in 2008..I went with my relatives...;)we are a team of 20mems..some are coming up from hyderabad, some from vijayawada & others from palakollu...finally we all met at Polavaram in the morning time..

Our boat named "Godavari Vihari" a steamed boat with a capacity of 200 people..the boat started from Polavaram roundly at 9.30am in the morning..So we joined the rest of the group traveling with us. They were bunch of family. This family was all talking and having fun through out the ride...We took a break at a temple place called "gandi pochamma talli" a tribal village...there were a few tribal villages along the way on banks of the river...these are small villages with population ranging from 20 to 200 families, some of them are well connected, some are just connected by river and with no electricity. Around 200 and more villages are going to be submerged forever once this proposed "polavaram"project finally comes into existence as told by our guide. Even this very famous temple will no longer exist...So we were traveling upstream to this beautiful river whose breadth and depth of flow was amazing:) As it is upstream ride we took 5 hours to reach our destination.

ur next stop was "Devi patnam" it was customary stop for security checking which was normal for all rides here. One of the interesting facts about this police station was an old building belonging to British raj time. Famous rebel leader of this area in that period, Alluri sitharamaraju, who attacked a police station near to this patnam was kept in confinement in devipatnam. Ok thanks to our travel Guide:)I was sitting outside watching all the beautiful Godavari and those interesting villages passing by wishing that how beautiful it would have been if the weather was "cool".:)So lunch arrives and another juggle to swim through the crowd and finished lunch..There came One turn in river which was so narrow and beautiful and our guide told us that it was known as a dangerous turn especially during flood time. Here water depth reaches 250 feet making it more dangerous during rainy season. Godavari seems to be very vibrant and calm from outside.

When once we reached our destination "papikondalu", a pair of mountains standing tall, close to each other . From distance it seems that there is a curve in between the mountains from where the river is disappearing as it has got no place to flow. once we reach the place then we realize how wide it is. I cant really go into whole story told by my guide.From here we reached a place where bamboo tents were built on sand dunes..atlast we reached a place called "perantapalli", a small village of hardly 20 tribal families. There was a matt established by Ramakrishna mission in its beautiful backdrop. one small lagoon famous for its medicinal values, a small siva temple were the main attractions. These villagers are craftsmen and they make beautiful handicrafts out of bamboo...When we reached the temple water puddle there was a bliss..I splash some water on my face and for first time I feel like really "freshed up" :). ..we had our darshan inside the temple.


It was high time by then as it was already 3 pm, and we had a long journey to be back homeLots of pics. we totally enjoyed ourselves with a conversation and nature was glowing to compensate all the hard ride. :) i really cant explain how beautiful it was, making our team think to just jump on one island and stay back:) But we stored those memories in a digi cam:) they can just capture moments, but a ride can only be stored in your heart, the whole experience of watching the sun set behind those mountains. cool air, and its NATURE after all. So we took leave from the scene only when it was dark. It was quick and happy ride back to starting point.

Hello world!It has taken me awhile but I am pleased to create ma first personal(Naresh Posinasetti's) blog.

Here I am after all these days of shunning participating in social networks, starting my own blog for the very first time.

I am beginning this blog for me, first, because it was a healing outlet for me to express my feelings about something that happened to me, secondly, as a way to reach out to everyone around me. I believe that God placed us on this Earth to help one another. Whether it be through words, or action. So then, its my hope, that maybe, in my shared thoughts and experiences, I will be able to help define someone else’s life.

To be frank I donno about the bloging...one of ma friend who is very week then me is maintaining a blog with a good stuff ....L dat got into maa mind....I thinked alot why Can't I?? Some ppl are mainting the blog to earn money...but I don wanna commercialize my blog...I started the blog to share my personal exp along with the people....as well as to provide a gud stuff to the people around the globe....

I'm uncertain as to what I'll talk about, but will certainly use this forum to vent my rants about people, events, things, & events that I am passionate about one way or another. I may even touch on stuff that I am ambivalent about. I won't make any promises about how often I'll make entries, but they will be regular. This will be an ongoing work in progress. Wish me luck. (That is if anyone is reading this at all to begin w/.)
